What does this fault code mean?
The swirl flap motor operates the flaps in the intake manifold. The signal from the motor is monitored by the engine control module (ECM), which sets the code when the PWM signal is wrong.
Possible causes
- Looseness or corrosion in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Fault in the swirl flap motor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check the connector to the swirl flap motor for looseness, contact resistance and corrosion.
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the motor has no break and no contact with ground (the body).
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the swirl flap motor and check that the flap moves.
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the swirl flap motor and its control.
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
