What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) continuously receives information about the brake pedal position and the status of the braking system from the brake control module (BCM) over the CAN network. The code is set when the information from the BCM is wrong or unreasonable. The fault is recorded first in the brake control module and then in the engine control module, so the code is a follow-on code.
Possible causes
- The root fault is in the brake control module (BCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the brake control module first and correct the fault there, since this code follows it.
- 2Clear the code in the engine control module only once the fault in the brake control module has been corrected, and check that it does not return.
- 3Do not work on the braking system yourself. If the fault remains, have a workshop check the brake control module.
Symptoms you may notice2
- The cruise control does not work at all
- The cruise control cannot be engaged
