Show models by year and engine (1)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the signals from the two position sensors in the throttle body and sets the code when the difference between them becomes too large. If one of the signals is faulty, the control uses the other signal instead.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or corrosion in the connections
- Damaged throttle body
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector to the throttle body is firmly seated and free from damp and corrosion.
- 2With the ignition off, disconnect the connector and check that the contact surfaces are clean and undamaged.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read both throttle position sensor values in live data with the ignition on, and check that they follow each other when the accelerator pedal is pressed.
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the throttle body.
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine performs poorly
- The cruise control does not work at all
What the fault can affect2
- If one of the signals is faulty, the other signal is used
- The cruise control is switched off for as long as the fault is active
