What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks that the throttle follows the throttle angle it requests. The code is set when the actual throttle angle differs from the requested one, and it can only be checked in certain driving situations.
Possible causes
- The throttle sticks or is blocked, for example by dirt or ice
- Damaged throttle body
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the actual and requested throttle position in live data at idle, and check that they follow each other.
- 2With the ignition off, press the throttle plate gently and check that it does not stick or is not blocked by anything.
- 3Have a workshop clean the throttle body if needed.
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the throttle body.
Symptoms you may notice3
- The idle is uneven
- The engine performs poorly or lacks power
- The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
