What does this fault code mean?

The ECM confirms that it holds the data the cruise control needs, including from the steering wheel buttons and the transmission control module (TCM). The code is set when any of it is missing, or when the information is unreasonable, for example during excessive acceleration from low speed.

    Possible causes

    • The cause may lie in the central electronics control module (CEM)
    • The cause may lie in the brake control module (BCM)
    • Short circuit between the CAN wires
    • Loose connections or contact resistance in the connections to the CAN network

    What you can do

    1. 1Check that the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel work and that nothing is stuck in them.
    2. 2Check that the gear selector can be engaged in the correct position and that no transmission fault is shown.
    3. 3Read the fault codes in the central electronics control module (CEM) and the brake control module (BCM), and correct them first.
    4. 4Check the connections to the CAN network for loose contacts and contact resistance.
    5. 5Do not work on the braking system yourself. Have a workshop check the brake control module if it has fault codes.

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • The cruise control cannot be engaged

    What the fault can affect1

    • The cruise control is switched off for as long as the fault is active

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
