What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors its internal components and continuously takes in data from the transmission control unit (TCM) via the CAN bus. The code is set when a fault in the communication section is detected. The cause is an internal fault in the engine control module.
Possible causes
- Fault inside the engine control module (ECM) itself
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery is in good condition and charged, since low voltage can affect the control modules.
- 2Clear the fault code after the battery has been checked, and see whether it returns.
- 3Check whether other fault codes for the fuel system are stored in the engine control module, and correct them first.
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the engine control module and replace it if needed.
