What does this fault code mean?

The fault concerns configuration data for wheel size or axle ratio being incorrect. The engine control module gets this data from the central electronic module (CEM) and compares it with engine speed and vehicle speed signals while driving. The fault code may be caused by a control module from another car having been fitted.

    Possible causes

    • Programming fault. The cause may lie in the central electronic module (CEM)
    • Incorrect vehicle configuration: a second-hand control module with other software or hardware that is not intended for this car

    What you can do

    1. 1Read off the fault codes and note which are present before clearing any
    2. 2Think about whether a control module has been replaced recently, for example a second-hand one from another car, as the fault code may be due to that
    3. 3Clear the fault code, drive the car and read off the fault codes again afterwards
    4. 4If the fault code remains: have a workshop load the correct software into the central electronic module (CEM)

    Symptoms you may notice2

    • The speedometer shows an incorrect value
    • A text message and a warning symbol appear in the display

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
