What does this fault code mean?
The engine has demand-controlled piston cooling, and the engine control module (ECM) controls the piston cooling valve. The fault code is set when the signal wire to the valve is broken, which is an open circuit. The valve then cannot be controlled, and piston cooling is always active.
Possible causes
- Break in the signal wire
- Connector or cable is damaged
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors to the piston cooling valve are firmly seated and free from oxide
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the valve has no break
- 3Check that the wire is not chafed or pinched by anything
- 4If the fault code returns: have a workshop check the valve and the wiring
