What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) waits for the start lock signal from the transmission control module (TCM) over the CAN network, and the fault code is set if the signal does not arrive within a set time. The fault is probably linked to a more general CAN fault, which is often the cause of this code as well.
Possible causes
- Fault on the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes in the engine control module. If any of the codes ECM-U012088, ECM-U000188, ECM-U1A1400, ECM-U000108 or ECM-U000100 are stored, troubleshoot that one first
- 2Read off the fault codes in the transmission control module (TCM) and troubleshoot any codes there first
- 3Check that the connectors in the CAN network are firmly seated and free from oxide
- 4If the fault code returns after the other CAN faults have been fixed: have a workshop check the communication between the engine control module and the transmission control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Starting or autostart does not work
