What does this fault code mean?
The ECM watches the voltage level so that output-stage faults can be detected. The fault code is set when the voltage is too low. A damaged generator, a weak battery, a harness with excessive resistance, or a drop in supply voltage may be behind it.
Possible causes
- Damaged generator
- Poor battery
- Too high resistance in the cable harness
- Power failure
What you can do
- 1Check the battery charge and that the battery terminals are tight and clean
- 2Check the fuses for the engine control module and that they are intact. Their locations are given in the owner's manual
- 3Check the earth points and the connectors in the cable harness for play and oxide
- 4Have a diagnostic tool: read the battery voltage in live data with the engine running and see whether it is steady
- 5If the fault code returns: have a workshop check the generator
Symptoms you may notice1
- The charge warning lamp lights or behaves abnormally
