What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks the battery voltage. The fault code is set when the voltage is too high. The cause may be a damaged generator or an external voltage source connected to the car.
Possible causes
- Damaged generator
- External voltage source
What you can do
- 1Disconnect any external voltage source, such as a battery charger, that is connected to the car
- 2Check that the battery terminals are tight and that no other power source is connected to the car's electrical system
- 3Have a diagnostic tool: read the generator voltage in live data with the engine running, preferably at a slightly higher engine speed, and check that it does not become too high
- 4If the fault code returns: have a workshop check the generator
