What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named signal above allowable range, it applies when the speed value from the brake control module (BCM) does not change as it should for too long. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the signal and sets the code when it stays unchanged. The fault can only be detected when driving under certain conditions, and the code is stored in the BCM first and then in the ECM.
Possible causes
- Fault in the speed value from the brake control module (BCM), where the cause should be looked for
What you can do
- 1Read off the codes in the brake control module (BCM) first and remedy them
- 2Clear the code in the engine control module only once the code in the brake control module has been cleared and the fault remedied
- 3Check the connectors and wiring to the brake control module for play, corrosion and damage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the speed value from the brake control module changes when the car is moving
- 5Test drive the car after the repair, as the fault is only tested when driving under certain conditions
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine warning lamp lights or behaves abnormally
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
