What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) watches the output of the control module's internal power stage that drives the swirl damper motor. The code is set when that signal is incorrect, which may be caused by an open circuit in the signal cable or a damaged swirl damper motor.
Possible causes
- Open circuit on the signal cable
- Damaged swirl throttle motor
What you can do
- 1Check the signal cable to the swirl damper motor for an open circuit with a multimeter
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the swirl damper motor and check that it responds to the command
- 3Check that the connectors to the swirl damper motor are secure and free from oxidation
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the swirl damper motor and its signal cable
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
