What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the swirl throttle motor circuit and sets the code when the signal is wrong. The code concerns a short circuit to ground in the signal cable, meaning the cable is in contact with earth (the body) when it should not be.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged swirl throttle motor
- Swirl damper motor sticking, or the linkage and swirl damper sticking
- Damaged linkage between the swirl throttle motor and the swirl throttle duct
- Trouble code ECM-P200812 (short circuit to voltage) can cause this code
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the status of the code with the ignition on and see whether it returns after the repair
- 3Check the signal cable with a multimeter for a short circuit to ground, and check that the connectors are secure
- 4Check that the swirl damper and the linkage can move freely
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the swirl throttle motor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
