What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the swirl throttle motor circuit and sets the code when the signal is wrong. The code concerns a short circuit to supply voltage on the signal cable, which gives a signal that does not match what is expected.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged swirl throttle motor
- Swirl damper motor or linkage sticking
- Damaged linkage between the swirl throttle motor and the swirl throttle duct
- Trouble code ECM-P200811 (short circuit to ground) can cause this code
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the status of the code with the ignition on after the repair, and check that it does not come back
- 3Check the signal cable with a multimeter for a short circuit to supply voltage, and check that it is not pinched or chafed
- 4Check that the swirl damper and the linkage can move freely
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the swirl throttle motor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
