What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the swirl throttle motor circuit and sets the code when the signal is wrong. The code concerns a circuit voltage that is too high. This may be caused by a signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage, but also by an open circuit or a sticking swirl damper motor.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged swirl throttle motor
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Swirl damper motor or linkage sticking
- Damaged linkage between the swirl throttle motor and the swirl throttle duct
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: start the engine and read off the status of the code
- 3Check that the signal cable to the swirl throttle motor is not pinched or chafed
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cable has no short circuit to supply voltage or ground
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the swirl throttle motor and its connectors
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
