What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks how the swirl damper motor works. The code is set when the signal from the learned closed end position of the swirl damper motor is incorrect. The test is only run after a drive, once its conditions are met.
Possible causes
- Defective swirl damper motor
- Swirl damper jams or has stuck
- Damaged swirl damper arm
- Damaged swirl damper end stop
What you can do
- 1Check that the swirl damper is not jammed or stuck in its end position
- 2Check that the swirl damper arm and end stop are not damaged
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the status of the code after a drive to see whether it is active
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the swirl damper motor and carry out a new learning of the end position
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
