What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks how the swirl damper motor works. Although the code is named commanded position not reachable, it applies when the learning of the swirl damper motor's closed end position has failed. The code is only tested after a drive, once the test conditions are met.
Possible causes
- Defective swirl damper motor
- The swirl damper is jammed or has stuck
What you can do
- 1Check that the swirl damper can move freely and has not stuck in its end position
- 2After a drive, use a diagnostic tool, if you have one, to check whether the code is active
- 3Check that the connectors to the swirl damper motor are secure and free from oxidation
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the swirl damper motor and carry out a new learning of the closed end position
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
