What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the swirl damper position with a calculated value and sets the code when the position is wrong. The code therefore concerns the position of the swirl damper itself, and it is tested with the engine running.
Possible causes
- Damaged swirl throttle motor
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the swirl damper position in live data with the engine running, and check that it follows the command
- 2Check that the swirl damper and its linkage can move freely
- 3Check that the connectors to the swirl damper motor are secure and free from oxidation
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the swirl damper motor
