What does this fault code mean?
The ECM tests the signal going to the bank 2 swirl damper motor and sets the code when that signal is incorrect. The code concerns the signal cable being in contact with earth (the body) when it should not be, and it can result from a damaged motor or a sticking damper.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged swirl throttle motor
- Swirl damper motor sticking
- Linkage or swirl damper sticking
- Trouble code ECM-P200817 can cause this code
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read off the code's status with the ignition on, if you have a diagnostic tool
- 3Check the signal cable with a multimeter for a short circuit to ground
- 4See whether the connectors at the swirl damper motor are loose, oxidised or damaged
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the swirl damper motor and its linkage
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
