What does this fault code mean?
The code relates to a short circuit to supply voltage on the signal cable to the bank 2 swirl damper motor. The engine control module monitors the signal and sets the code when it is incorrect, which may happen when the cable is in contact with battery voltage.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged swirl throttle motor
- Swirl damper motor sticking
- Linkage or swirl damper sticking
- Trouble code ECM-P201211 can cause this code
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the status of the code with the ignition on and see whether it returns
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable has no contact with voltage
- 4Check that the cable is not pinched or chafed
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the swirl damper motor and its signal cable
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
