What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks the supply voltage to the swirl damper motor position sensor. The code is set when the signal is incorrect and is tested with the ignition on. The cause may be a short circuit in the supply or signal wire, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Power supply short-circuited to battery voltage
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage
- Open circuit in the earth lead
- Damaged sensor
- Power supply short-circuited to ground
- Short circuit to ground in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check that the connector to the swirl damper position sensor is clean and secure
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire has no contact with ground and that the earth lead has no open circuit
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the status of the code with the ignition on and see whether it is active
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the position sensor and the wiring with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
