What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named circuit high, it applies when the signal from the exhaust temperature sensor deviates from the expected value. The engine control module compares the signal with a calculated value and sets the code when the deviation is present.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage
- Earth lead short-circuited to voltage
- Damaged temperature sensor at the particulate filter
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Trouble code ECM-P203200 can cause this code
- Trouble code ECM-P208429 can cause this code
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check that the connectors to the sensor are clean and secure
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with voltage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the sensor value in live data with engine load during a test drive
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the sensor and, if needed, the engine control module software

- The car runs with poor performance and lacks power, especially at take-off
- Check engine warning lamp lights or behaves abnormally

- Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control does not operate
- Soot particles are not burnt off
