What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) continuously checks that the reading from the catalytic converter temperature sensor stays inside the range the sensor is allowed to work in. The code is set when the control module finds that the value does not, and one listed cause is a software fault in the engine control module.
Possible causes
- Software fault in the engine control module
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check that the connectors to the temperature sensor at the catalytic converter are secure and free from oxidation
- 3Check that the sensor wiring has not chafed against hot parts or been damaged
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the sensor value in live data with the engine running and check that it is sensible for the engine load
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the software in the engine control module, as the cause may lie there
