What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the signal from the sensor after the catalytic converter with a calculated value. The code is set when the sensor value is wrong, and a signal wire in contact with voltage can then be the cause. A damaged sensor can also set it.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage
- Damaged exhaust temperature sensor after the catalytic converter
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with voltage
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the sensor value in live data with the engine running and see whether it rises unreasonably fast
- 4Check that the connectors to the sensor are secure
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensor after the catalytic converter
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine warning lamp lights or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- A calculated value is used instead of the sensor signal
