What does this fault code mean?
The ECM continuously compares the particulate filter temperature sensor's signal with a calculated value. The code is set when that signal is wrong, and the diagnosis needs the engine to have been off for a long period.
Possible causes
- Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation on the connector
- Damaged particulate filter temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Make sure the connector at the particulate filter sensor is clean and sits firmly
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wiring to the sensor has no open circuit
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the sensor value in live data with the engine running and see whether it seems reasonable
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop measure the sensor resistance and replace the sensor if it is damaged
