What does this fault code mean?
The signal from the exhaust camshaft reset valve is too high when the code is set. The cause may be a signal wire touching battery voltage or a damaged valve, and the engine control module (ECM) checks that wire.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged exhaust camshaft reset valve
What you can do
- 1Look at the valve connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the valve is not connected to battery voltage
- 3Inspect the wiring to the valve for pinch damage and chafing
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the code status with the ignition on to see whether it is active
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the valve and the wire
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine warning lamp lights or behaves abnormally
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
