What does this fault code mean?
The condition for this code on bank 2 is that the rear oxygen sensor's adjustment reaches one of its limit positions after large differences from the front sensor. The code is named too rich.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
- Air leakage in the exhaust system
- Damaged front oxygen sensor
- Damaged rear oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the exhaust system does not leak air
- 2Check that the connectors to the bank 2 oxygen sensors are clean and secure
- 3See whether other trouble codes are stored, and troubleshoot those first
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop establish which oxygen sensor is damaged before any is replaced
Symptoms you may notice2
- Malfunction indicator light (MIL) on
- Check engine warning lamp lights or behaves abnormally
