What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the throttle motor with a PWM signal, and it has registered a fault in that signal. The fault is general and has no more specific fault type. It may involve connectors, an open supply or ground wire to the throttle motor, or a damaged throttle unit.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- An open circuit in the supply voltage wire to the throttle motor
- An open circuit in the ground wire to the throttle motor
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the code with the ignition on and see whether it is still active
- 3Check the connectors at the throttle unit and the engine control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Look for breaks in the supply and ground wires to the throttle motor, and check with a multimeter that the ground is connected to the body
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the throttle unit and the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor performance
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
