What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the first potentiometer in the throttle position sensor. It is set when an adaptation by the engine control module fails, for example because an internal fault has occurred in the amplifier for the signal, or because the mechanical stop position of the throttle has been exceeded. The adaptation keeps the throttle unit's values within the values stored in the control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module
- The throttle sticks or is blocked, for example by oil film or dust
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections between the control module and the throttle unit
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1First fix any other stored fault codes, since they may be the reason the adaptation does not complete
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3With the ignition on, read the throttle unit adaptation parameter in live data. It should show OK once the adaptation is complete
- 4Check that the throttle does not stick or is not blocked by dirt, and clean the throttle unit if needed
- 5Check the connectors at the throttle unit and the engine control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the throttle unit and the engine control module
