What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives throttle actuator B through internal power stages and has found a fault in the control of the motor. The fault is general and has no more specific fault type. It may come from poor contact in the connectors, a break in the signal wire, signal wires shorted to each other, or a damaged throttle unit.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- An open circuit in the signal wire
- The signal wires are short-circuited to each other
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the code with the ignition on and see whether it is still active
- 3Check the connectors at the throttle unit and the engine control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Look for breaks and chafing in the signal wires to the throttle unit, and use a multimeter to confirm they are not connected to each other
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the throttle unit
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
