What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the throttle motor through internal power stages and has found a fault in that control. The fault is electrical: the signal wire either has contact with supply voltage or is broken.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connectors
- An open circuit in the signal wire
- The signal wires are short-circuited
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the code with the ignition on. If it is no longer present, it may have cleared by itself
- 3Check the connectors at the throttle unit and the engine control module for loose connections and oxidation
- 4Look for broken and chafed wires to the throttle unit, and use a multimeter to confirm the signal wire carries no voltage when the ignition is off
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the throttle unit and the engine control module
