What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives throttle actuator B through internal power stages and has found a fault in that control. The signal cable has been short-circuited to ground, so the fault is an electrical one in the control of the actuator.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 3Follow the signal cable from the throttle unit and look for places where the insulation is chafed or damaged
- 4With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal cable has no contact with ground
- 5Check the connectors at the throttle unit and the engine control module for corrosion and loose connections
- 6If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the throttle unit and the engine control module
