What does this fault code mean?
The fault is mechanical: during an adaptation attempt the module sees that the throttle movement is blocked, or that the throttle's return spring is not doing its job properly.
Possible causes
- The throttle sticks or is blocked, for example by oil film or dust
- Contact resistance or oxidation between the control module and the throttle unit
- An open circuit, or a short to ground or supply voltage, in the wiring to the throttle motor
- The wires to the throttle motor have shorted to each other
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the code and note it down
- 3Check that the throttle moves freely and is not blocked by dirt or an object, and clean the throttle unit if needed
- 4Check the connectors at the throttle unit and the engine control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5Look for breaks and shorts in the wiring to the throttle motor, and use a multimeter to confirm it has no contact with ground or supply voltage
- 6If the fault remains after these steps, have a workshop carry out the throttle adaptation and check that it completes
Symptoms you may notice3
- The engine lacks power and performs poorly
- The Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
- A text message and a warning symbol appear in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Depending on the fault, the control module may cut the supply to the throttle motor, and the throttle then tries to return to its spring-loaded position
