What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered that the actual throttle angle is smaller than the requested angle. The throttle is therefore more closed than it should be. The code is stored while driving, and the fault may be in the throttle unit or in the engine control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged throttle unit
- Damaged engine control module
What you can do
- 1Take the car for a test drive, then read the code to see whether it is still there
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the throttle position in live data while pressing the accelerator, and check that it follows the pedal
- 4Check the connectors at the throttle unit and the engine control module for loose connections and corrosion
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment decide whether the throttle unit or the engine control module needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp lights up
- Poor response from the accelerator pedal
