What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered that the accelerator pedal sensor's PWM signal carries too few pulses, so the basic frequency does not match the expected values. The cause may be a contact problem, a break or short in the signal wire, or a faulty sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections between the control module and the pedal sensor
- Signal wire broken, or shorted to ground or supply
- Damaged accelerator pedal sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the code with the ignition on and note it down
- 3Look at the connectors at the pedal sensor and the control module and check that they are firmly seated
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the pedal sensor is not shorted to ground or supply voltage and has no break
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment decide whether the pedal sensor needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
