What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module compares the accelerator pedal position from two independent signals, an analogue signal over CAN and a PWM signal. The code is set when the analogue signal is too low. The cause may be a signal wire shorted to ground or to another circuit, or a damaged pedal sensor.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to ground
- A wire is short-circuited to another circuit
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check whether other CAN-related fault codes are stored in the control module, for example ECM-U012088, ECM-U000188, ECM-U1A1400, ECM-U000108 or ECM-U000100. If so, fault-trace those first
- 2This code can point to a problem in the CEM. In that case, look for the cause there
- 3Check the connectors at the pedal sensor and the engine control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the pedal position in live data while slowly pressing and releasing the pedal, and check that the values follow each other
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment decide whether the pedal sensor needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice3
- A text message and a warning symbol appear in the display
- The engine lacks power and performs poorly
- The engine hesitates or surges, and it is unclear when
