What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the PWM signal from the accelerator pedal sensor. The code is set when the signal stays at a low level for too short a time within each period. The cause may be poor contact in the connector, a signal wire carrying voltage, or a damaged accelerator pedal position sensor.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation, or a loose connector
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the code with the ignition on and note it down
- 3Check the connector at the pedal sensor and the engine control module for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Look for wires that may have touched a live supply, and use a multimeter to confirm the signal wire has no voltage when the ignition is off
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the pedal sensor and its wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- A text message and a warning symbol appear in the display
- The engine lacks power and performs poorly
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
