What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the PWM signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor and has registered that it is too high. The fault may lie in the signal wire, in the supply wire or in the pedal sensor itself.
Possible causes
- An open circuit in the signal wire
- The signal wire is short-circuited to ground
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- The supply wire is short-circuited to ground or supply voltage
- An open circuit in the ground wire
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the code with the ignition on and see whether it is still active
- 3With the ignition off, look for chafing and breaks in the signal wire and the ground wire to the pedal sensor
- 4Use a multimeter to confirm the signal wire has no contact with supply voltage when the ignition is off
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the pedal sensor and the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- A text message and a warning symbol appear in the display
- The engine hesitates or surges, and it is unclear when
- A message appears in the information display
- The accelerator pedal is ignored during braking
What the fault can affect3
- The analogue signal over CAN takes the place of the PWM signal
- If the brake pedal is pressed down at the same time, the pedal is treated as released
- Performance drops if the fault remains for a long time
