What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module compares the accelerator pedal position from an analogue signal over CAN with a PWM signal. The code is set when the analogue signal is too high. The cause may be a signal wire shorted to supply voltage or to another circuit, or a damaged pedal sensor.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- A wire is short-circuited to another circuit
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the accelerator pedal position in live data while pressing and releasing the pedal, and check that the two readings follow each other
- 3Check the connectors at the pedal sensor and the engine control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Look for chafing and breaks in the signal wire, and use a multimeter to confirm it has no contact with supply voltage or other wires
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the pedal sensor and its wiring
Symptoms you may notice3
- A text message and a warning symbol appear in the display
- The engine lacks power and performs poorly
- The engine hesitates or surges, and it is unclear when
