What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes, so it may not show up right now. The engine control module has registered that the analogue signal from the accelerator pedal sensor is incorrect, and compares it with the PWM signal. The code is only set if one of the codes ECM-P012000, ECM-P012200 or ECM-P012300 has been detected, and here the fault has not lasted long enough for that.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Start the engine and read the accelerator pedal position in live data while slowly pressing and releasing the pedal. Check that the values follow the pedal and each other
- 3Check the connectors at the pedal sensor and the engine control module for contact resistance and oxidation. Loose connections are a common cause of intermittent faults
- 4If the fault is intermittent and does not show during these checks, test drive the car and read the code again afterwards
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop decide whether the pedal sensor needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice2
- A text message and a warning symbol appear in the display
- The engine lacks power and performs poorly
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
