System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has detected that the pulse length of the pulse width modulated (PWM) signal from accelerator pedal sensor circuit 2 is wrong. The fault therefore concerns the accelerator pedal signal. The code can also have been set in error after a control module in the car was reprogrammed, so check whether any module has recently been reprogrammed.
Possible causes
- Damaged accelerator pedal sensor
- Code set in error after a control module in the car was reprogrammed
What you can do
- 1Check whether any control module in the car has recently been reprogrammed, as that can cause this code to be set in error
- 2Check that the accelerator pedal connector and wiring are secure and not chafed or corroded
- 3With a diagnostic tool, check that the pedal value in live data follows slow presses and releases of the pedal
- 4Remedy as needed, then erase the code and road test the car to check that it does not come back
- 5Replace the accelerator pedal sensor only if the fault remains and the wiring is intact
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor response from the accelerator pedal
