What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning sporadic: the analogue signal from the accelerator pedal sensor has been wrong, but the fault is not present at the moment. The engine control module (ECM) receives the pedal position through two independent signals, and this code is only set alongside other fault codes in the system.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged accelerator pedal sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Read the diagnostic status and fault status with a diagnostic tool, and road test the car to see whether the fault shows right now
- 3Check the connectors at the pedal sensor and the engine control module for contact resistance and oxidation; loose connectors can cause faults that come and go
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the pedal value in live data while the pedal is pressed and released, and see whether the value jumps or drops out
- 5If the fault returns, treat it as permanent and replace the pedal sensor only if nothing else is found in the wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- Yellow warning symbol and a message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
