What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent and the signal erratic: the PWM signal from the accelerator pedal sensor has been wrong, but the fault is not present at the moment. The engine control module (ECM) compares the two pedal signals, which should follow each other as the pedal moves. This code is only set together with other fault codes in the system.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged accelerator pedal sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Road test the car to see whether the fault shows right now, and read the diagnostic and fault status if you have a diagnostic tool
- 3With a diagnostic tool, read the pedal movement in live data while pressing and releasing the pedal slowly; the values should change with the movement and the signals should follow each other
- 4Check the connectors at the pedal sensor and the engine control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5If the fault returns, treat it as permanent and replace the pedal sensor only if nothing else is found in the wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- Yellow warning symbol and a message in the display
- The car has poor performance and lacks power
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
