What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the control valve at the intercooler bypass inlet. The code is set when the valve binds or sticks while the ECM tries to open or close it. The fault may lie in the signal wire, for example a short to supply voltage, or in the valve itself.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- The control valve at the inlet has jammed
- Damaged control valve at the inlet
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Road test the car and note whether the fault shows when the throttle input changes
- 3With a diagnostic tool, activate the control valve at the inlet and check that it moves freely without sticking
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the valve is not short-circuited to supply voltage
- 5If the valve binds or sticks, have a workshop replace it
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
