What does this fault code mean?
The main speed value from brake control (BCM) deviates from the reference supplied on the transmission side, and the engine control module (ECM) sets the code. This is a follow-on code: the root fault is in the BCM, and the code can only be erased after that fault is fixed.
Possible causes
- Faulty speed signal from brake control (BCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the brake control module (BCM) first, since the root fault is there
- 2Fix the fault in the BCM and then erase the code in the engine control module
- 3Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 4With a diagnostic tool, compare the BCM and TCM speed values in live data while the car is rolling; they should agree
- 5Road test the car after the repair and check that the idle is smooth and that the code does not return
- 6Do not work on the braking system yourself; have a workshop check the BCM and its speed signal if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- Uneven idle
