What does this fault code mean?
The ECM stores this code when it sees a deviation between the speed values of the BCM and the TCM. Because several modules can be involved, the work should start in central electronic module (CEM).
Possible causes
- Incorrect speed signal sent to the brake control module (BCM)
- Fault in the brake control module (BCM)
- Incorrect speed signal sent to the transmission control module (TCM)
- Fault in the transmission control module (TCM)
- Contact resistance in the CAN connections
- Open circuit in one or both CAN wires
What you can do
- 1Start by reading the codes in CEM and any other affected modules, since the code may have been set in several
- 2Fix the faults where they are, then erase the code
- 3Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 4Check the CAN connections for loose contacts and oxidation
- 5With a diagnostic tool, compare the BCM and TCM speed values in live data while the car is rolling
- 6Do not work on the braking system yourself; have a workshop check the BCM if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice2
- Cruise control does not work at all
- A message appears in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Cruise control switches off
