What does this fault code mean?
The module uses its own calculation to judge whether the reading from its built-in atmospheric pressure sensor is reasonable. The code is set when the reading is judged implausible, and the fault lies in the control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read the code, note it and clear it. Then drive the car and read again to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the air pressure value in live data with the ignition on and check that it is reasonable for where the car is standing
- 3Check that the fuses for the engine control are intact
- 4If the code returns, the engine control module should be replaced. Have a workshop do the job
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control uses a fixed fallback value for normal sea-level air pressure instead
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
