What does this fault code mean?
The module compares the filtered signal from the sensor to the intake manifold with the signal from its own atmospheric pressure sensor. The code is set when the difference between the two signals becomes larger than allowed, and it can only be checked once the ignition has been on for a while.
Possible causes
- Damaged manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1First check whether other air pressure codes are stored, both for the internal sensor and the intake manifold sensor. Diagnose those before this code
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the pressure values in live data with the ignition on and see whether the intake sensor and the internal sensor show roughly the same pressure
- 3Check the wiring and connectors to the intake manifold sensor for contact resistance, oxidation, shorts to earth or voltage, and breaks
- 4Try a new intake manifold sensor and check whether the difference between the sensors disappears
- 5If the difference remains, the module's internal sensor is damaged. It cannot be replaced alone, so have a workshop replace the module

- The engine control uses the intake manifold sensor value if it is fault-free, otherwise a fixed fallback value
