What does this fault code mean?
The module sees that the pump current to the front heated oxygen sensor has stopped and sets the sensor signal to a default value. Although the code is named as a short to supply voltage, it concerns the pump current. The fault may lie in the contacts, the pump current wire or the sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the terminals
- Open circuit in the pump current wire
- Damaged front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and drive the car, then read it again
- 2Check the sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation. Rust-dissolving spray and grease do not belong in the connector
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the pump current wire is unbroken, preferably measuring from the back of the contacts
- 4Try a new oxygen sensor if the wiring is intact
- 5If the fault remains after that, have a workshop diagnose further
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
